Round The Bays 2023

More than 20,000 people turned out for the annual Southern Cross Round the Bays, in Tāmaki Makaurau on Sunday the 5th of March. The sun was shining, and the city was alive as we saw Under Armour Elite runners, joggers, walkers and kids take to the ground to complete the 8.4KM course across Auckland’s waterfront.

At Under Armour, our mission is to make athletes better by giving them performance solutions they didn’t know they needed and now can’t imagine living without. Our Elite Runners took the new Under Armour Flow Velociti Elite to the streets of Auckland – The Flow Velociti Elite is a marathon specific shoe and was created to move you forward with speed & efficiency. Every stride taken is amplified by a full-length carbon fiber plate sandwiched in a soft mid-sole foam that compresses and springs back for added lift and energy return.

Lisa Carrington & Dame Sophie Pascoe waited at the finish line to hand out the signature “Round The Bays” medals to those who completed the course, along with Liam Messam who was a proud supporter at the back of the crowd helping to keep everyone pushing through right until the very end.

Under Armour Elite Runner Clara Lachurie was the first wāhine to cross the line, in a time of 30 minutes and 36 seconds. Katie Evans who is also part of the Under Armour Team crushed 3rd place at a time of 31 minutes and 14 seconds. Jack Moody took out 3rd place in a time of 25 minutes and 12 seconds in the men’s category.

We celebrated our victories down at Annabelle’s on St Heliers Waterfront with the entirety of Team Under Armour and AGI head office -  a cold drink and some sunshine was exactly what everyone needed to cool down after an epic day.
