Company History

 

1995

AGI is established and launches with the American brand AVIA, an American footwear and apparel company that specialised in aerobics, basketball, walking and running. Despite multiple brand ownership changes - this successful relationship exceeded 20 years.

2001

AGI signs distribution agreement with AND1, American basketball footwear brand - and successfully steers the brand to #2 market position in it’s heyday behind only Nike - sponsoring the national teams and multiple league teams - a relationship that spanned over 15 years.

2003

AGI introduces KEEN Footwear into NZ - the very first distributor outside of the USA. KEEN footwear produces sustainable and environmentally conscious outdoor performance footwear for men, women & children - and is a leader in this category in New Zealand

2006

AGI form a distribution partnership with global sportswear giant Under Armour for New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

AGI move into custom built new premises in Albany, Auckland which includes it’s own onsite full-service distribution centre

 

2009

KEEN Footwear launches in Kathmandu - the largest outdoor retailer across NZ and Australia - selling travel and adventure outdoor footwear, apparel and equipment.

2011

World Champion Kayaker Lisa Carrington is the first athlete to partner with Under Armour in New Zealand. Lisa went on to win Gold at the London 2012 Olympics.

2013

Under Armour partner with Joseph Parker, professional heavyweight boxer - who goes on to win the WBC World Heavyweight title while wearing the brand

Under Armour secure first 100sqm shop-in-shop space in Rebel Sport, New Zealand’s largest sporting goods retailer.

 

2014

Under Armour commences a partnership with New Zealand Canoe leading into the 2016 Summer Olympics.

2016

AGI commence a relationship with 3PL provider DSL Logistics to manage supply chain and inventory movement and management.

Under Armour partner with Surf Lifesaving NZ as their official merchandise partner.

2017

AGI further expand their owned and operated retail business opening two global standard Under Armour Factory House stores.

AGI also open KEEN Footwear’s first owned and operated store in Christchurch, New Zealand.

2018

AGI relocate to a larger new purpose built office facility in Milford, Auckland.

Under Armour retail footprint increases with the opening of a further three Factory House stores across New Zealand.

 

2019

AGI open their first Under Armour Brand House store in the newly developed Westfield Newmarket centre.

Under Armour opens a sixth Factory House store in the redevelopment of Westgate Shopping complex in Auckland.

Olympic Freeski medalist Nico Porteous signs a deal with Under Armour.

Under Armour launches in Footlocker, the sportswear and footwear retailer.

2020

Under Armour partners with New Zealand Rugby star TJ Perenara to promote the men’s training business.

Under Armour agrees to a 3 year partnership with Round the Bays, New Zealand’s largest fun run event in Auckland which attracts over 30,000 participants each year.

New Zealand’s largest shopping complex, Sylvia Park is home to Under Armour’s second Brand House store

2021

AGI re-launches e-Commerce for Keen Footwear.

Sophie Pascoe, New Zealand Para-Athlete of the decade partners with Under Armour to promote the women’s training business.

New Zealand basketball captain Tom Abercrombie commences the 2021 season wearing the Under Armour x Steph Curry signature shoes.

2022

Executed the All Out Mile Event, a global brand event for Under Armour.

Under Armour Partner with newly established Ultimate Athlete, Obstacle Race series. Obstacle Course Racing is the fastest growing mass participation sport in the world, combining functional fitness & fun.

Extended KEEN brand partnership with Sustainable Coastlines.

2023

New Years honours list: Nz athlete Lisa Carrington and Sophie Pascoe promoted to Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to their respective sports.

Under Armour partner with Stephen Perofeta, Blues Rugby Player & All Black.

Under Armour partner with Payton Spencer - Teenage son of former All Blacks first-five Carlos Spencer.
