From Breaker, back to the basics #10

Last week marked a special milestone as we joined forces with the G.O.A.T. Under Armour athlete, Tom Abercrombie to honour and celebrate his remarkable 16-year basketball career. As Tom announced his retirement from the professional league, we were honoured to stand by his side as he returned to where it all began for him – Hauraki Primary School.

Together Under Armour and Tom Abercrombie unveiled a brand new basketball hoop, symbolising Tom’s legacy, passion and dedication to Basketball.

Tom shared his reflections in his grassroots journey and the days where he first discovered his love for basketball on the courts of Hauraki Primary. From his Mum coaching the basketball team, to his Grandfather building the original backboards and brackets, the story really did come full circle from Breaker, back to the basics.

The red ribbon cutting marked a new chapter in the school’s basketball history, a chapter that Under Armour was proud to be apart of. We extended our support to the primary and provided a years supply of basketballs shoes and basketballs ensuring that the next generation of athletes have the tools they need to succeed on and off the court.

This morning was more than just a celebration and recognition of an incredible career in basketball. It was a shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of athletes and giving back to the communities that have supported our athletes along the way.

Tom, thank you for inspiring us all with your passion and dedication to sport.
